A bad match is our problem to fix, not yours.
We made the match, so we carry the risk. The Reset covers fit, not results, and this is how it works.

We re-pick and rebook
A different counselor, matched from scratch. Your first session with them is free.
The Woodlands · North Houston
You don’t have to have it figured out before you start.
Pick what sounds closest to where you are right now.
The replaying conversations, worst-case scenarios, and thoughts that follow you into bed can get exhausting. We’ll help match you with a Woodlands therapist who regularly works with anxiety, overthinking, and persistent worry.
You do not need to tell your whole story just to find the right therapist. We can connect you with clinicians experienced in trauma-focused care and help you understand which approach may fit what you’ve been through.
When everything feels heavy, distant, or harder than it should, getting started can feel like another task. We look for therapists who know how to work with low mood, withdrawal, and low motivation at a pace you can actually sustain.
If the same arguments, disconnection, or communication problems keep showing up, the pattern matters. Couples counseling is available at this office depending on the counselor, and we will match you with someone who does that work.
Between work, family, traffic and schedules, there is often no obvious place to put yourself on the list. Our Sawdust Road office is near I-45 and The Woodlands Mall, and video sessions are there for the weeks when crossing town is too much.
You do not need a diagnosis or the perfect explanation before reaching out. Tell us what your days have been feeling like in your own words, and we’ll use that to help identify a therapist who may be a good fit.
None of these quite fit? Say it in your own words on the form.

Before you book
What you’re probably wondering
How soon can I start in The Woodlands?
It depends on who has room at this office. Put the days and times that work for you on the form and we will say what is open before you book.
What if the first counselor is not the right fit?
Tell us. Fit matters more than almost anything else in whether counseling helps, so we do not treat it as a complaint.
Under the Reset, your first session with a new counselor is free. The Reset is about fit only, not a promise about results.
Which insurance plans can I use, and do you take Medicaid?
The twelve plans listed under Cost, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna, and we confirm your benefits before the first session. Original Medicare and UHC Medicare Advantage are on that list too.
Medicaid is not, and we cannot bill it. If that is your coverage, we will help you find someone who can.
Do you offer couples or marriage counseling in The Woodlands?
Yes, depending on the counselor: some of our Woodlands counselors see couples, married or not, and families.
Tell us on the form who is coming and we will match you with a therapist who does that work.
See couples counseling in The Woodlands for who they are.
What happens in the first therapy session?
You talk about what brought you in and what you want to be different, at whatever pace suits you. Your therapist uses that to suggest where to start, and you decide whether it feels right.
Can I see a therapist in The Woodlands by video instead?
Yes. Secure video therapy is available from anywhere in Texas, and we will match you with a counselor who offers it.
If your counselor offers both, you can mix them: in person on Sawdust Road most weeks, and by video on the week the drive is the hard part.
Do you prescribe medication or offer psychiatry?
No. Acceptance Path Counseling is a counseling practice, and none of our counselors prescribe.
If you already see a prescriber, counseling runs alongside that and we can coordinate with your permission. If you need one, we will say so plainly and point you elsewhere.
If you were looking for a psychiatry practice with a similar name, that is a different business, not us.
Is a counselor the same as a therapist?
Here, yes. Our counselors are licensed in Texas as LPCs and LCSWs, which is the licensing most people mean when they search for a therapist.
We say counselor because it is our word for what we do. The work is the same either way.
Can I ask for a male or female therapist, or one who shares my background?
Yes, put it on the form. For gender, background, age or anything else, we will tell you honestly whether someone here fits.
If not, we will say whether another office or a video counselor would suit you better.
Is what I am dealing with serious enough for counseling?
If it is costing you sleep, evenings, patience with people you love, or the ability to start things, it is enough. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to come in.
Naming it is part of the work, not the entry fee.
Start with what this week has been like
One short form, in your own words. We read it, match you with a therapist, and tell you the estimated cost before you book.
Acceptance Path Counseling provides weekly counseling from licensed Texas counselors, in person at our office in The Woodlands and by secure video across Texas. We are not a psychiatry practice and do not prescribe medication.
We do not offer group therapy, psychological testing, or intensive or inpatient programs, and will help you find them if you need them. Counseling is not an emergency service.
