UNDERSTANDING PTSD

The Lasting Effects of PTSD

01

Reliving the Past

Memories, nightmares, or unexpected reminders can make it feel as though the traumatic event is happening all over again, even when you know you're safe.

Flashbacks Nightmares
02

Constantly On Guard

You may feel unable to relax, always anticipating danger, startling easily, or remaining alert even in situations that pose no real threat.

Hypervigilance Alertness
03

Feeling Disconnected

Trauma can make it difficult to feel close to others, enjoy activities you once loved, or experience emotions the way you used to.

Numbness Isolation

Healing Beyond the Past

PTSD doesn’t always stay in the past. It can shape how you feel, connect with others, and move through everyday life. Consider reaching out if any of these feel familiar:

Avoidance

Your world keeps getting smaller as you avoid places, people, conversations, or situations that remind you of what happened.

Living on High Alert

Even when you're safe, your mind and body remain prepared for danger, making it difficult to relax, rest, or feel fully present.

Guilt or Shame

You carry painful beliefs about what happened, questioning your decisions, blaming yourself, or feeling responsible for things beyond your control.

A Sense of "Stuckness"

No matter how much time has passed, it feels like part of you is still living in the aftermath. You need support that helps you move forward without ignoring what you've been through.

PTSD can make the past feel present, keeping your body on alert even when you’re safe, but you don’t have to keep living in survival mode alone. You deserve a partner here in The Woodlands, serving Creekside Park and nearby communities, to help you rebuild safety and trust.

Questions About
PTSD Treatment in The Woodlands

We prioritize quick access for PTSD clients. We typically schedule new intakes at our Woodlands office within the same week so you can begin processing in a safe, supported way.

Yes. We’re in-network with most major plans including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and more. We run a free benefits check before your first session.

Our therapists are specifically trained in PTSD treatment modalities — EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and somatic approaches — not just generalist talk therapy. We also pair you with a clinician matched to your specific PTSD experience and goals.

We combine evidence-based modalities — EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and somatic regulation — with a pace that prioritizes safety first. Early sessions focus on grounding and nervous system stabilization so that when we begin processing traumatic memories, you have the tools to stay regulated. Relief typically shows up first as better sleep, fewer triggers, and a returning sense of control over your day.

It depends on the type of PTSD and how long it’s been present. Single-incident PTSD can resolve in a handful of sessions with EMDR. Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) takes longer because we’re rebuilding safety and patterns over time.

Yes. You can meet at our Woodlands office on Sawdust Rd, attend virtually from anywhere in Texas, or mix both, based on what each week needs.

Yes, confidentiality is the bedrock of our practice. Everything you discuss is held in the strictest confidence, protected by both legal standards and our professional ethics. Our office is a private, safe container designed so that you can be completely yourself, knowing that your personal story stays entirely between you and your therapist.
